Yesterday IDAIA finished the Gestuelles’ setting up in Sydney Novotel. Does this new venue mean new exhibition? Certainly, we have fitted this event in its new space. The paintings, displayed in the middle of the autumn tones environment of Canberra, are now exibited in front of Darling Harbour as a prelude of our Hong Kong’s event in September.
There is also a question of visitors. Whereas in the Alliance Française de Canberra our public were mainly French speaking, at Novotel, we are exhibiting an authentic perception of the contemporary Aboriginal production to a worldwide audience. Moreover there will be also space for the marvellous art craft production from Yuendumu and also Tjanpi baskets. We are pleased to finally have the space to exhibit them. Indeed, it’s better to present the works of this women deserts with weaving works. All the colours embodied in those baskets announce the explosion of pigments in the recent painting. We cannot wait to present this new exhibition; see you at the Novotel Darling Harbour from the 20th of June to the 18th of July.
