Sonia Namarnyilk started working at Bábbarra Women’s Centre in 1993. An enthusiastic sewer, screen printer and lino printer, her health has prevented her working in recent years. Born in Gunbalanya, Sonia’s fabric designs feature Yawkyawk imagery (female water spirits), turtles and barramundi.
She also created art for Maningrida Arts & Culture, making prints on paper, wood carvings and woven fibre art.
Her artwork has been exhibited nationally and internationally.
