Beryl Bell is part of the art centre Tjanpi Desert Weavers.
Beryl Bell is an artist belonging to the Ngaanyatjarra language and cultural group and lives in the remote community of Kaltukatjara (Docker River) in the Northern Territory. She lived for several years at Mutitjulu community within the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park where she worked as a health worker in the local clinic, but has since returned to her ancestral country.
Beryl has been making fibre art for a long time, often creating bright and colourful sculptures that depict tinkas (lizards). She learnt to make tjanpi from her mother, one of the early Tjanpi Desert Weavers, who is now deceased.
As well as weaving, Beryl is also an established painter with Tjarlirli & Kaltukatjara Art. She paints important tjukurpa (creation stories) from around the Docker River area, including the Seven Sisters and Two Women stories.
