The 6th National Australian Indigenous Art Awards

The Australia Council’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Arts Board proudly presents the $50,000 Red Ochre Award, Australia’s highest peer-assessed award for an Indigenous artist; to actor, dancer, choreographer and painter David Gulpilil, OAM.

“These awards and fellowships are a significant recognition of the unique and important work of each of therecipients,” says Lee-Ann Buckskin, Chair of the Australia Council’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Arts Board.

The winners of the 6th National Australian Indigenous Art Awards:

Emerging Indigenous photographer Rhonda Dick, recipient of the Dreaming Award, of Tjala Arts; fellowship recipient visual artist, Jennifer Martiniello; Red Ochre Award recipient David Gulpilil; fellowship recipient Litterature, Richard Frankland, writer, activist and musician.
